Read and Recognize

Acts 6,5-6 (Ordination to the diaconate of Stephen, Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor,
Timon, Parmenas and Nicolas) … And they chose (these men) and these they set
before the apostles: and they praying, imposed hands upon them.

Hebr. 6,1-2 Wherefore, leaving the word of the beginning of Christ, let us
go on to things more perfect: not laying again the foundation of penance
from dead works and of faith towards God, of the doctrine of baptisms and
          imposition of hands …

If the sacrifice of JESUS CHRIST on the Cross as well as His teaching
were everything He wanted to make known to us, then only preachers
would be required. Sacred Scripture, however, teaches otherwise! And
the teaching and acts of the Apostles unmistakably point out that
CHRIST has bequeathed much more to the Church for all times,
among which are first of all the seven Sacraments, namely Baptism,
Confirmation, Confession, Extreme Unction, Eucharist, Matrimony,
          Holy Orders.

Let it be emphasized once more that these legacies and powers of the
bishops and of those to whom they entrust them, can only be passed
on through a visible and manual conferment provided that their conse-
cration can uninterruptedly be traced back to one of the Apostles.

          These legacies and powers are:
