Sword-Bishop – His Personal Development
Motto at the Sword-Bishop’s Consecration as Bishop
The spiritual fellow brother who opened the Holy Scripture and handed
it over to the ordaining bishop to place it on the nape of the neck of the
bishop-elect, as is customary, kept in mind the passage which he had
opened without looking.
It read as follows:
The Book of Jeremiah (Old Testament) – The Calling (Jer. 1,4-19):
4 «And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:
5 „Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I chose you, and be-
fore you were born, I sanctified you and ordained you a prophet
to the nations.“
6 I answered: „Ah, Sovereign Lord, behold, I cannot speak, for I am
too young!“
7 But the Lord replied: „Do not say: I am a too young; you shall go
wherever I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall
speak!
8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you!“ – says
the Lord.
9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth. And
the Lord said to me: „Behold, I have put my words in your mouth!
10 See, I have set you this day over the nations and kingdoms, to up-
root and pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to
plant!“
11 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying: „What do you see,
Jeremiah?“ And I said: „I see a branch of an almond tree.“
12 And the Lord replied: „You have seen well, for I am watching over
my word to perform it.“
13 The word of the Lord came to me a second time, saying: „What do
you see?“ I replied: „I see a boiling cauldron, and it is facing away
from the north.“
14 The Lord said to me: „From the north disaster will break forth upon
all the inhabitants of the land.
15 For, behold, I will call all the tribes of the kingdoms of the north“ –
says the Lord – „and they shall come, and each one set his throne
at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all her sur-
rounding walls and against all the cities of Judah!
