snatching back what they had once given as presents. Yes, they showed
no consideration for the Most Blessed Sacrament. They burst into the
vestry, even to the Altar, and ventured forward to fetch back their be-
longings, such as the organ, flower vases and flower decorations
beside the Most Blessed Sacrament, even though the SAVIOUR was
present. Many even seized objects just to indulge themselves. Often
these were also personal belongings of Father Nikolaus or other
co-workers. And Father Nikolaus watched it all in silence with a
bleeding heart! He only prayed to the SAVIOUR:
«Please, do not hold it against them, for they know not what they are
doing!»
And then the moment came when the church had to be cleared. The
last thing left to do was to saw off the six-metre high cross at the Altar,
and to take the SAVIOUR down from the Cross. At first, Father Nikolaus
wanted to avoid this sight and wait outside, but his love for the
SAVIOUR would not allow it. He stood there with a bleeding heart and
watched in silence while constantly talking inwardly with the SAVIOUR,
lamenting and weeping. And as the Body of the SAVIOUR was being
separated from the Cross, Father Nikolaus called to GOD in an outcry
from his heart:
«FATHER, if this be Your will, so do let me know through a sign!»
And all of a sudden, out of the blue, three times a dazzling lightning
came down, followed by mighty thunderclaps, which were heard by all
those present, who were frightened, and all this in broad daylight and
sunshine.
So they left the Ark in July 1977. They took the remaining things with
them. Father Nikolaus found accommodation with a family, in whose
house they built an emergency chapel in the living room. On the day
that the Ark had to be abandoned, Bishop Franck was also released
from prison after about 40 days with the remark: «Now you can go be-
cause you are no longer dangerous as there is no house available any
more», who then also moved into a private house. The KGS, however,
had been destroyed.
