Children’s Prayer Storm – KGS
example, there were two children who, as Nikolaus (in Holland he was
known as Oom Nico – Uncle Nikolaus) had taught them, wanted to go
to church during the day to greet our dear SAVIOUR in the Tabernacle.
The church was locked, though. They went straight to the parish priest,
rang the bell and asked the priest for the keys because they wanted to
make JESUS happy with a visit. Again, two other children were seen to
kneel down in front of the locked church door, and in turns whispered
their words through the keyhole to the SAVIOUR. (And before long they
were chased away by the priest!) And so forth, and so on. And how
many parents suddenly found their way back to the SAVIOUR, shamed
by their own little children. They became diligent Catholics again!
But now Nikolaus had another worry: he was looking for a priest who
would celebrate the Holy Mass according to GOD’s wish, and not the
people’s! At first he tried everything to get a priest from the appropriate
bishop Joannes Gijsen. He begged and pleaded. Although this bishop
had condemned him from all the church pulpits, without having ever
seen or heard him, Nikolaus, after repeated yet futile efforts, still went
to see him personally. At first this Bishop was enthusiastic about
Nikolaus’ story. But suddenly the bishop, due to the influence of his
secretary, began to hesitate, begging Nikolaus literally: «Please go to
another diocese with the Children’s Prayer Storm. Here in my diocese I
would like to have my peace,» and so on. To which Nikolaus replied:
«You will have your peace.» (This bishop was later transferred to
Iceland.) The statement of the bishop was no argument for Nikolaus
obliging him to obey. So he kept on fighting.
But due to the ever-returning nasty slanders, and the pain of separation
from his beloved family, he had become weak and discouraged for a
short while. And one night, so he tells us:
«... I just fell down completely broken before my crucified SAVIOUR (a
large cross) and wept bitterly. I cried out: „LORD, do help me! I cannot
go on. Please, please, do send me a priest for this large house! I am
surely not asking for a highly intelligent priest. He may even be
simple, very simple, with a torn cassock, and so on. All he should have
is a supremely loving heart for You and Mary. But send him to me as
soon as possible. I cannot stand it any more. So many people are
coming here who are starved in soul and spirit, and I cannot help
them. They so urgently need the help of a priest. O my LORD and my
