The Church’s Mania for Titles
This, too, completely clashes with the teaching of CHRIST and the
Apostles! Titles in the Church are, for example: cardinal, cardinal
deacon, prince-bishop, archbishop, titular bishop, suffragan bishop,
archdeacon, prelate, professor, doctor, metropolitan, vicar general,
Eminence, Excellency, His Holiness, procurator, prior, and so on.
Laughable if someone dares to say: „I am a Doctor of Divinity (the
scientific study of GOD)!“ What is man, then, compared with GOD’s
omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, etc.! And yet a human
being would boast about being a learned doctor in these matters.
What might Apostle Peter have said if a doctorate would have been
offered him?
He actually had, like the rest of the Apostles, the absolute teacher and
Master: GOD – JESUS CHRIST – Himself! Next, the HOLY SPIRIT, the
SPIRIT of the FATHER and the SON!
Should they who had only human professors be cleverer and possess
more knowledge than those who at the same time had two divine
Persons for their teachers? After all, it says in Scripture that they were
filled with the HOLY SPIRIT!
While the holy Bishop Albert Magnus, who was the teacher of Thomas
of Aquin, had passed on his knowledge to Thomas – and he was a
“leading light” in the world and in all fields of knowledge –, he then
took Thomas to an open terrace at night and basically what he said to
him was: „Look, my son, I have given you all my knowledge, now show
me how much you know and can do and how much help it is to you.“
He pointed with his hand to the star-studded sky and said: „Now count
me the stars!“ Despite all his learning Thomas was not able to.
As regards distinguishing titles, JESUS taught: „You are not to be called
Rabbi; for you have only one Master, who is enthroned in Heaven!“
The following ministries, which there are in the Church, can be named:
Pope, bishop, priest, cleric (according to the ministry), everything else
is not of GOD, but of man!
