Satan’s Large-Scale Cunning Feint

The Church is like a huge oven: the fire which burns in it springs
simply and solely from the most holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the mys-
terious, unbloody renewal of the bloody event at Calvary. All holy
Sacraments, indeed all devotions and works of piety have their
value only through the fire which springs from the Holy Mass. But
today‘s generation of priests is no longer able to add new fire to the
oven. The hearts of the priests should be the flints. They should
kindle a fire and fan the flames in the oven to a glow.

Their lukewarm, indifferent and cold hearts having become rigid
with all the paragraphs and laws are no longer able to cope with this
task. With the new order of the Mass there is no fire to be kindled
any more anyway.

In this way the fire of the Official Church has turned into dying
embers. Still, the people are being deceived. Still it is misled by use-
less paper fire, in part consciously, in part unconsciously staged,
which for a moment flares up brightly but at once crumbles into
ashes again that will be blown away by the wind.

Cheap showmanship, big talk, gesticulations and the like with no
actions to follow, bringing forth no good fruit, are like useless
paper which is held so long into the smouldering, nearly dying glow
until it catches fire. If this completely useless paper fire flares up and
is then with theatrical gestures held out to the people, they go into
raptures and are swept away by enthusiasm, calling out: „We have
fire again! We have fire again in the Church! Now everything will
surely take a good turn!”

Poor, deluded people! While you are rejoicing and going wild with
enthusiasm, the glowing fire (Holy Sacrifice of the Mass) is going
out more and more until in the end it dies out completely. In the
meantime they keep you, poor people, in suspense with ever new,
